The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna College of Engineering, organized an online seminar on “Acoustic Properties of Natural Fiber Composites” on 09th September 2025. The seminar aimed to provide insights into the sound absorption characteristics of natural fiber composites, their effectiveness across various frequency ranges, and their potential applications in noise reduction. The session also emphasized the role of fiber type, orientation, and volume fraction on the acoustic performance of composites. Furthermore, the comparison between natural fiber composites and synthetic composites was highlighted, stressing eco-friendliness and cost-effectiveness. The invited Resource Person, Dr. S. Senthilrajan (Robotics and Automation, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai), shared his expertise and research experience on the subject. The event was coordinated by Prof. B. Saravanan (Head of Department) and A.T. Jothis (Program Coordinator) under the guidance of Dr. A. Jegan (Principal) and Er. M. S. Vivekanandan (Secretary), with the support of the Chairman and Founder, Dr. M. Sivasubramaniam. The seminar provided valuable knowledge to participants on the utilization of natural fiber composites in multifunctional applications, particularly in achieving sustainable and eco-friendly acoustic solutions.
